This is beautiful, Miss Moth. It’s exciting when a writer is able to tap subconscious chaos. The images in this piece stimulated my own imagination. It is a description of a mystical experience. Thank you.
This is lovely Ramona. You seem to have a flare for coloring an image with words. Harmony manifested when describing a transformation. I loved every word.
Little Mermaid as Venus. A painful transformation story, embodied/embedded in color, texture, light and dark. As she runs and it does not hurt, I am especially reminded of Hans Christian Anderson’s little mermaid whose every footstep felt like a dagger in the sole. Not so for the Pearlfish, at the end of her heroine’s cycle. She is triumphant, a goddess, after passing through the abyss. That's how it tickled my mind… very striking.
this is a lovely and fresh take on the cocoon analogy! i have never read it from the perspective of a pearl in an oyster and it is a horizon-widening new perspective. as always, i love your mind ramona!!
I will have to sit with this one for a while. it still rings and reverberates through my mind. i really loved the colour palette you used for this!! i was imagining iridescence in my inner eye and then you said it and i was like "yess exactly what i was seeing!!"
364 words of something! "Anything is better than nothing" ❤️🎱
No but this was really just fresh, I felt fresh.
I feel like...sometimes, you're things are kind of what would be the answers to my random questions of like, what it would be like to be trapped inside of a pearl, or maybe the life of a pearl fish caterpillar thrown in the sea, and but...like almost there's a story of becoming free from that shell like what olly said oh wait I just saw the picture. Duuude! This was cool Ramona!
I loved this! The vivid, visceral language was, as usual, perfect. It always feels like your poetry is something you read from the inside out, starting in the stomach of it and finding yourself appreciating it from an aerial view by the end. This one was especially fun to sit with, thinking through all the different meanings it could hold, depending on which way you look at it, depending on which direction you're coming at it from. But the theme that stood out to me was the process of renewal through destruction, becoming more through the matrix of constraint.
(As a bonus, I looked up pearlfish and discovered that they live inside the assholes of sea cucumbers, and that's a cool little fact I'll have to whip out at dinner parties now.)
& thank you for bringing this cool fact to me! i had no idea lmao !! Brandon, thank you for your amazing and insightful comments, i always look forward to them & the amazing work you post !!
To me this felt like letting parts of yourself go as you grow into a higher form of self, each stage you become something new you make it through the suffering and emerge a thing of light and beauty <3 I hope you always keep your love of writing Ramona
